Do I need to file a Tax Return if it’s not required this year?

I know I don’t need to do a Tax Return this year, shall I just not file it as I don’t need to do it?

No! If a Tax Return has been issued, and HMRC think (for whatever reason) that it should be sent in then something needs to be done.

If you do nothing, and the deadline passes, HMRC will charge penalties, even if you didn’t need to complete a Return.

So, if a Return has been issued, you either need to submit it by the deadline of 31st January or contact HMRC to have it cancelled prior to the deadline of 31st January.

Don’t just ignore it, even if you know you don’t really need to do it!
